Our Purpose

The Board of Directors of the Xtra Mile Recovery Assistance work together to help men and women find suitable detox centers, rehabs, and sober living environments to help them in the first couple of years of addiction recovery. They wanted to have a small, local ministry, but not limit the number of people they could help based on their resources. They help everyone they can find the help they need, the best way they can.
The Overall purpose of the Ministry can be explained by three main functions:
The Xtra Mile is first a liaison for area churches, pastors, and community members to assist them in guiding people that come to them needing help with addiction. Most people do not know where to turn or what to do in these situations, so we provide free support for those who need it. We find detox centers, rehabs, or sober living homes (like the Xtra Mile houses) to help with the first year or two of recovery.
Second, the Xtra Mile works with a hand full of individuals to assist them in their life of sobriety. This is our in-house ministry that invests in a handful of men each year to help them discover the freedom that comes from trusting fully in Jesus. We offer a safe living environment, accountability, work opportunity, biblical discipleship, and a deep understanding of the gospel of Jesus. Some men come to us from prison and others from broken homes or families.
Third, the Xtra Mile provides support for members after they graduate the program. We offer financial help with deposits, fines, and even vehicle purchase in order to help members be more successful and reduce reentry stress.
We are still learning, growing, and developing our process and structure. The ministry of recovery is a daunting task with many heartbreaks and setbacks. We continue to fight and continue to get better for God’s glory.
